Tooth Contouring
There are some things that simply make it so we do not want to smile. For the most part this has to do with some defects that we have in the teeth that will appear in a smile. For years people have been searching for a way to repair these defects without a lot of hassle and it was not possible until a few years ago. While there was a time when you either had to live with a defective tooth or have it replaced with bridge work, the future of dentistry is here and the new procedures are making it all the better. With the minor defects in teeth the cosmetic dentists are now performing a procedure known as tooth contouring. There is nothing fake about it and the procedure is largely non-invasive to say the least.
Over the course of time there are things that can happen to our teeth. Chips and grooves and so on can occur usually in day to day life. These are the minor defects that keep people from having a perfect smile which is not considered to be socially acceptable any longer. Of course there is nothing that most people will do about it unless they are guaranteed a positive result. Tooth contouring offers just such a result and it is virtually painless with little or no invasion for the mouth itself. All in all it is the perfect procedure for someone who has some minor issues with the appearance of their teeth as far as structure is concerned. There are some limitations to what the procedure can repair but they are minor to be sure.
Tooth contouring is sometimes referred to as re-shaping. The procedure does not require any outside products or sleeves. The tooth contouring is all about making the tooth that you have nice looking again. With that in mind the dentist will take the tooth and work with it by way of grinding and polishing. This will help to remove the defects from view and make the tooth better in the way of appearance. The amount of grinding and polishing that will need to be done all has to do with how bad the defect is. If it is nothing more than some shallow pitting in the enamel than you can plan on it being a rather smooth and fast procedure.
Worn edges are also a good candidate for tooth contouring. There is the issue of too much grinding that may require that some of the other teeth in the mouth are worked on as well. This may happen if the grinding on a tooth requires a complete new shape that will not match the other nearby teeth.
This holds true as well for those individuals who have different lengths of teeth. You may notice that some people have two longer teeth in their upper mouth. This can be distracting when they smile, but if those two teeth are contoured, the result can be a very even smile.
Tooth contouring is very inexpensive procedure to have done. In most cases the
dentist can take care of all the minor defects on the teeth within an hour or less and you are on your way. The procedure is painless and of course it is permanent. Talk with the dentist to see if you are a candidate for tooth contouring or re-shaping today.
